FuseRig is not a pendant with tools attached. The body, cord, openings, markings, and materials were designed as one compact field system.

The idea

Too small to waste space.

At pendant scale, decoration is expensive. Every surface, opening, mark, and material choice had to justify its place.

FuseRig was built around one constraint: if a detail takes up space, it should do work.

01 / Body

Body as material

The AZ91 Magnesium-Alloy Body is not just a shell. It can support fire-starting when shaved into magnesium ignition fuzz.

02 / Openings

Openings as signal

Machined openings are part of the structure, but they also form the 120 dB Signal Whistle.

03 / Markings

Markings as navigation

Laser-engraved markings turn the surface into a readable navigation layer, including degree references, ruler marks, and solar orientation.

04 / Cord

Cord as utility

The carry system became another layer of field use, with hidden utility stored in a wearable format.

FuseRig was not designed by stacking features. It was refined by turning structure into function.

Fire. Cut. Strike.

The first prototype defined the core pendant concept: a hollow magnesium-alloy body carrying a ferro rod, High-Hardness Zirconia Knife, and Zirconia Glass-Breaker Bead.

The shell learned to signal.

Openings in the magnesium-alloy body created the signal whistle, while a long window made room for chemical glow sticks.

Only the compass brain remained.

Full compass modules were too large for the pendant, so the design kept only the essential elements: a micro magnetic needle and brass pivot pin.

The empty space became useful.

Fishing line and hooks moved onto the fire rod, and the lighting system improved after testing a brighter micro LED approach.

Navigation became readable.

The surface became part of the compass. Laser-engraved degree marks, sundial references, rulers, and Polaris markings added readable navigation and measurement layers.

The carry system became the final layer.

The secondary cord and tail hooks added hidden field utility, including line, waxed cord, cotton thread, wick, polyester line, wire, hooks, pace beads, and a sealed micro compartment.

Product team note

The compass was where the product changed.

A normal compass wanted more space than the pendant could give.
Most small compasses are still built around a round module. That shape did not belong inside FuseRig, so we kept only what the function needed: a micro magnetic needle, a brass pivot pin, and a readable surface.
We stopped trying to fit the whole compass and kept only the brain of it.

The problem
Round compass modules were too bulky for the pendant form.
The shift
The needle stayed small. The body became the reading surface.
The result
Degree marks, sundial logic, ruler marks, and Polaris reference became part of the object.
